\n<\/span><\/span><\/b>Somehow you have to put \u2018the hell\u2019 in the <\/span>correct<\/span> position, right?  If you say: <\/span><\/span><\/b>What is that, <\/span>the hell<\/span>?    <\/span><\/span><\/span>We\u2019ll get <\/span>lost.<\/span>  Even worse, some of your coworkers may <\/span>laugh at you<\/span>.  (So, believe it or not, speaking slang at office is about grammar too.) <\/span><\/span><\/span>It is not cool<\/span> being laughed at by others, right?  <\/span><\/span>

\nSo the question is: <\/span>How to speak <\/span>cool<\/span> slang <\/span>coolly<\/span>? <\/span>Before you know how to do it, read the following cool American slang that can be used at office:<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

<\/b>1. a slave driver<\/span>
\n2. a hit<\/span>
\n 3. Mickey Mouse (as an adjective)<\/span>
\n4. <\/span>on<\/span> spec<\/span>
\n              5.<\/span> out of<\/span> the loop<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

\n<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

You will know what they mean very soon. But the bigger question is: <\/span>When you learn some cool slang, <\/span>how are you going to <\/span>make it your own <\/span>English<\/span>?<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

\n<\/span><\/span><\/b>That is, you <\/span>watch movies<\/span> and <\/span>learn slang<\/span> and <\/span>check out the meanings<\/span>, but you may not be sure how to use it.  By \u2018use it\u2019, I mean use it <\/span>correctly<\/span> so that you will be cool and your coworkers will admire you, not laugh at you.<\/span><\/span><\/b>

<\/b>As you may have already read my another post<\/a><\/span>, you may just take a<\/span> NAP<\/span> (a small rest). <\/span>Yes, \u2018<\/span>take a NAP<\/span>\u2019 to speak <\/span>cool<\/span> English at your office.  <\/span><\/b>

\n<\/span><\/span><\/b>
\n<\/span><\/span><\/b>How? <\/span>If you may remember, <\/span>N<\/span> stands for nouns, <\/span>A<\/span> for adjectives, and <\/span>P<\/span> for prepositions. <\/span><\/span><\/b>So now, you can go back to the five slang and group them into N, A, or P.<\/span><\/span>

\n<\/span><\/span><\/b>
\n
\n<\/span><\/span><\/b>USING SLANG <\/span>at office<\/span>: <\/span>THE<\/span> N WAY<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

\n<\/b>The first two ones, a slave driver<\/span> and <\/span>a hit<\/span>, are <\/span>nouns<\/span>. <\/span>So, you may use the first one (a slave driver) to <\/span>complain <\/span>about <\/span>your boss.  <\/span>How<\/span> to do it?  Read the following dialogue.<\/span><\/b>

\n1. A slave driver: A dialogue<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Your friend: What is your boss like? <\/span>
\n       <\/span><\/span><\/b>
\n
\n<\/span><\/span><\/b>You: He is a<\/span> slave driver<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/b>
\n<\/span>Your friend: What?<\/span><\/span><\/b>

\nYou: He is such <\/span>a slave driver<\/span> that he makes us work day and night.<\/span>

\n<\/b>In other words,<\/span> you work as a slave and your boss just keeps pushing you. <\/span>A piece of cake, right?  <\/span>

\nBut you can add a<\/span> twist <\/span>to this \u2018N\u2019 way (He is a slave driver). <\/span>What is it? <\/span>Just <\/span>move<\/span> the noun (a slave driver) to the beginning (of the sentence).<\/span><\/span>

A slave driver<\/span> he is!<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/div>\n

\nWhat does it (the sentence) mean? <\/span><\/span>It means he is<\/span> really really really<\/span> a slave driver. (You can add more \u2018really\u2019 if you like.)<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

\n<\/b>2. A hit: upon finishing presenting your proposal, your coworker says to you:<\/span><\/b>
\n
\n<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Your presentation was <\/span>a hit<\/span>.  <\/span><\/span><\/b><\/div>\n

\n<\/span><\/span><\/b>
\nWhat<\/span> does it mean? <\/span><\/span><\/b>I guess you have heard of <\/span>hit songs <\/span>and <\/span>hit rates<\/span>, right?  So a hit means something that is <\/span>successful<\/span>, something that is <\/span>loved by others<\/span>. <\/span><\/span>So, if your proposal is a hit, it is a <\/span>very good<\/span> one.  <\/span><\/span>
